Gelicious Nails Recover Review

Have you got your hands on the Gelicious Nail kit yet? If your answer is 'No'- my friend you are missing out! Sitting at $129AU for the starter kit which consists of the Gelicious LED lamp, a top coat and colour of your choice- Yes, the initial costs of it is a tad expensive, but I think its a true investment, considering I paint my nails all the time!

I have done a comprehensive blog the how to use it in my previous post. This is just a review on the colour Recover. The colour is a nude, almost off-white, similar to the finish of a French manicure. I find two coats the colour is sufficient enough to give me that even, opaque look. Other bloggers have said they needed three coats.

Gelicious have just released some new pastel colours that I'm dying to try :) Cannot wait to get my hot lil hands on them.

What colours have you tried ?

L'Oreal Waterproof Telescopic Mascara Review

Over the years, I tried countless mascaras: waterproof, fibre, ceramide and normal mascara only to be disappointed by its results. I can only hope that with this review, I can help some of you find your perfect mascara.

Firstly let me detail the nature of my eyelashes. I have extremely short and flat eyelashes that need to be curled prior to applying mascara. For me curling my lashes- is a MUST do! Unless you are gifted with beautiful curled lashes. I have trouble finding mascara that will hold my curled lashes. And it seems to me that most waterproof mascara has the ability to maintain my curled lashes. My 2 favourite mascara at the moment would have to L'Oreal Waterproof Telescopic and L'Oreal Double Extension (waterproof) .

L'Oreal Waterproof Telescopic promises up to 60% longer looking lashes and intensity lash by lash. They say that the highlight of this product is it's supple elastomer bristles, high-precision flexible brush.

I must admit I do love this mascara, but it probably isn't as good as its sister by product: the L'Oreal Double Extension in waterproof ( To be reviewed soon). The Telescopic mascara definitely provides me with immensely longer looking lashes and holds my curl ever so well. If you're looking for a mascara that provides volume- this may not be what you are looking for.  The only downside I have with this mascara would be its brush. Despite all the rave about the comb-like brush, I find I don't get enough lash separation and find myself using a clean mascara wand to separate it.

Before
After: 2 coats of mascara

Because I wear contact lenses, I'm quite wearing about the longevity of some mascara- but this little beauty doesn't smudge nor flake during the day. Even after a hardcore gym sesh- I don't get panda looking eyes. How fabulous!! It is super waterproof- so you will need an oil based makeup remover, to remove it.

At $26.95AU a tube, it is a neat little mascara that does everything I ask of it to. It holds my curled lashes and lengthens my short lashes too. I've paid so much for mascara in the past and find myself coming back to this one- this lil gem to be a keeper. You know what they say- If it aint broke don't fix it :)

What mascara works for you?

The world of Gelicious Hybrid Gel Nails!

If you’re like me, I LOVE to colour my nails all year round. Despite my obsession, I do find that my nails get very brittle and damaged by ordinary nail polished like OPI, BECCA, Revlon and Face of Australia, and as a result, I have stopped using them for a while to help my nails grow.

A colleague of mine has introduced me to Gelicious Hybrid Gel Nails; an Australian branded nail company that produces nail polish with similar results to Shellac but no where near as damaging to the nails and shines and lasts brilliantly with 2 weeks wear.

Directions:
  1. Prep the nail first: Push the cuticles back, file the nail, and clean the nail bed with a bit of nail polish to remove any oil and residue

  2. Apply a thin coat and set the colour with the LED UV lamp for 1 minute ( try to leave 1mm of the nail uncoated all around)
  3. Apply another coat and set for another 1 minute ( Now cover the rest of the nail with the colour, including the tip of the nail to seal the edges)
  4. Apply the top coat and set for 2 minutes

VERDICT:
I love love LOVE Gelicious Nail. I’ve been in possession of Gelicious Nails for almost a month, and can happily say, my nails are stronger and are longer while using Gelicious Nails. The shine is still there after 2 weeks, and have received a lot of compliments about the colour and SHINE!

The only negative feedback I have about this is the removal process of the colour. I personally find the removal process quite lengthy and tedious. I’ve purchased rubber pluggers and soak cotton wool with 80% acetone and stuff it in the plugger and leave my nails in for 10 minutes.

The gel literally crumbles off. I’ve tried soaking my nails in a container with acetone but don’t like my skin getting soaked and it wastes more acetone as well.

The hybrid nail colours are $29 each. Gelicious Nails have a special starter kit deal where you get the LED UV lamp, a colour polish of your choice and the top coat going for $129

I have purchased 4 colours so far: Snuggle, Cosmopolitan, Recover and Coral.
Stay tuned for the other swatches.
